About
Aries... Our Services... Our Facilities...
Joe Davis has had a love affair with old cars since he was in
high school. His first car, a 1928 Model A Ford, took him all over the
West Coast and was his only form of transportation for many years.
In College he restored a Model T and a 1955 Mercedes Gull Wing Coupe (shown at right)
in his spare time. His only mistake was selling the Gull Wing a
few years later. Today it would be very valuable. |

Joe has restored 18 cars on his own prior to starting
Aries Restoration about 6 years ago. These included Lincolns, Model
A's, Model T's, Hupmobiles and a Mercedes. He is involved with the
Classic Car Club, the Lincoln owners club, Horseless Carriage Club,
AACA and Model A Ford Club on a regular basis and attends both concourse
events and club outings, driving his 1930 Lincoln whenever possible.
Joe has rebuilt numerous engines throughout
his career, including the Lincoln V-8, Model A and Model T engines,
as well as high performance Model B engines with overhead valve
heads such as Miller and Crager.

Our Services
There are four employees, besides the owner Joe
Davis. One is a master metal smith, who with the help of an English
wheel, blow torches, rollers, hammers and welders, can make or straighten
out about any type of metal on a car, restoring it back to original
shape and condition.
All of our people are highly trained and experienced
with antique and classic cars. The newest car we have ever undertaken
is a 1939 Ford Convertible Sedan and the oldest a 1909 Model T Ford.
Review the pictures of just a few of the cars we have refurbished
and restored.
Personalized attention is what we are all about. We typically have three to four cars in
process, we may be doing mechanical work on one, wood repair and reconstruction on
another, metal straightening, upholstery, wiring etc. We have a talented electronic technician
from Silicon Valley who can figure out almost any electrical issue and loves old cars.
Weekly reports are sent out to customers either by
e-mail or regular mail, if requested. These include many pictures
of the week's work, a detailed spread sheet including item by item
what work was done, by whom, and how many hours, as well as the
dollar costs. Also receipts for any parts or outside services procured.
So you will always know at what stage the car is at and be kept
abreast of the progress and costs.
This is a turn key operation, but the customer's input
and involvement is key to making sure the job is done not only right
but the way the customer wants it and when he wants it.

Estimates
It is difficult to give an exact estimate for the extensive repair and restoration of a vintage automobile. As the car or truck is disassembled, often new and unforeseen problems are uncovered that can cause the scope of the project to expand. We always try to keep the customer abreast of the progress on the vehicle and also of major discoveries of issues that might substantially affect the scope of work.
Insurance and Collision Repairs
Most body shops are not set up to handle major or minor repairs to vintage cars. We have a complete metal forming shop and can not only re-form fenders and body panels back to their original shape; we can also remanufacture those panels or frames if needed. We have complete structural wood-making capability as well. We can match paint colors exactly in single stage or base coat / clear coat. We also can repaint in lacquer and acrylic enamel.
Mechanical Services
We offer complete turnkey service from regular maintenance to complete engine remanufacturing. We also can remanufacture mechanical brakes to work as they did when new or sometimes even work better. We install over-drives, and overhaul transmissions and rear axle assemblies. We have complete frame-straightening equipment and can completely restore a frame to like-new condition.
Preservation - Concours Cars and Drivers
If your car is a preservation vehicle we can give you recommendations on how to "conserve" the condition of paint, upholstery top, and running gear. We can work with you to keep the car from further deteriorating.
If you want a car to be in concours condition, we understand what that means, we can recommend and execute a plan to bring your restoration up to that condition or perform a ground up restoration to achieve that goal.
Is your car a good older restoration and you want a good driver? We can make recommendations to bring your car to that condition. Myself and many of my employees own and drive their vintage automobiles. We know what it takes to make a car reliable for tours and road trips. We have been there and done that.
We are familiar with the shortcomings of most makes and models and can make purchasing recommendations before you buy, based on your goal of what you want to do with your car and how you want to use it. Whether a 4-cylinder Model T Ford or a 12-cylinder Pierce Arrow, we can steer you in the right direction.
Detailing Services
We have skilled painters and polishers who can re-habilitate an older paint job that may look to many as too far gone. We have sources for complete remanufacturing of wire wheels and we have sources for bright metal plating and polishing as well as stainless steel trim restoration and repair.
